What the stores changed, and what it costs you.

The iPhone section now opens with iPhone Duo: 1398 x 2034 for the outer display and 2007 x 2853 for the inner one. Neither is close enough to the 6.9-inch ratio to be scaled from it.

Both sizes are available as targets and are optional: Apple has not published whether the class is required. Nothing in the studio asks for them until you pick them.

Google Play needs at least two screenshots to publish at all, counted across device types rather than per type, and at most eight per type. The four-screenshot figure belongs to the large-screen section, not to phones.

Fewer than two blocks the export. Fewer than four is a warning that never blocks it.

Phone screenshots run from 320 px to 3840 px a side. Tablets, foldables and Chromebooks run from 1080 px to 7680 px and Google documents 16:9 landscape or 9:16 portrait. On every screenshot the long side stays within twice the short one.

The tablet range no longer borrows the phone ceiling of 3840. The 9:16 target 1440 x 2560 is the one we list first; 1200 x 1920 and 1600 x 2560 are 5:8 and export with a warning.

Apple asks for a 6.9-inch or 6.5-inch iPhone set and, for apps that run on iPad, a 13-inch set. Every smaller class is scaled from those unless you upload it.

The canonical targets are 1320 x 2868 and 2064 x 2752; the older 1290 x 2796 and 2048 x 2732 remain available and are still accepted.

Screenshots cannot contain transparency, and a PNG carrying an alpha channel is refused even when every pixel is opaque.

Exports default to JPEG, and PNG output is re-encoded as 24-bit truecolor. Every file is inspected after encoding.
